I made my way down to que sera for moustache earlier... matt wasn't there, but a few other people remembered me and I had a couple of beers and even shook my ass a little. between the rain and it being the day after new year's, it was pretty slow... I started to fade out, and headed home a while before last call.

I spent most of the afternoon/evening working, and got a good chunk of the admin interface for the project du jour done... ought to be able to wrap that up tomorrow without a problem. two more projects I'd love to get done by monday morning, but I'm not seeing it happen. I'm gonna be coding over the weekend, but I'm not gonna work my fingers to the bone.

the clouds have broken and the waxing moon is very bright, so I think we're gonna have sun tomorrow like the forecast says... excellent.

it's an amazingly clear day... reminds me of the one last january when jeremy took a photo of the hollywood sign—from the end of the venice beach pier. I rode down the strand to malaga cove (wil, mark your thomas guide: redondo beach pumping station #13 = nice spot)... lots of kiteboarding going on today. going south was easy but a 30 mph headwind left my ears ringing from the trip back. I was gonna go throw a round of disc golf but twc says the wind is almost as bad in long beach, so I'm skipping it. I'm hungry, so I think maybe it's pizza time before I do anything else.

I forgot to mention, I heard a dad-to-wife-and-kids "did you see that haircut?" somewhere in rb.

I walked up to roundtable (the place with the always-funny marquee on sepulveda @ gould) and gotta say I'm happy with the pizza. I brought half a medium home for breakfast. and they deliver, in case two blocks up the hill is just too far.

I took the latest la weekly I had (dec 19-25, the winter film one)... didn't make it through, but a few things so far are memorable: a positive review of peter pan, a great totally pointless interview with tim burton, a reminder that film still moves people.

the smallest (the one in a highchair, she was maybe 3) of three asian kids at the next table stared at me the whole time I was there.

I had love from the usps waiting when I got home, form-of a big padded envelope from wil full of cds, consume patches, and a consume t-shirt. let the shameless brand-whoring begin! (I have a box of safety pins somewhere, I'll get to work on those patches right away. can I actually wash that shirt? the pooping SUV is solid, but the shoulder logo seems a little... delicate.)

and I'm completely out of coffee, I think I'll go remedy that.

this cover of "enjoy the silence" by evergreen terrace is fucking good.

[update: yeah, I need to hear more by these guys.]

[update2: ( listen... )]

[update3: I've seen these guys on bills around here before and thought their name was cool, but I'd never heard them. I will not miss them again. triangle-ites can see them at the cradle on the 25th of this month.]
